Daisy Soap News Help

For those that wish to keep up to date with new information and notices of specials that are published on this website, but do not have the time or desire to visit us daily to check for updates, we have setup a news feed that syndicates the information in the form of a "data feed". This will make it easier for you to get the information in a timely fashon. The data feed is made available in the form of an XML file that contains a list of the most recent articles that have been posted.

NOTE: This article uses the general term "XML" for the data feed. Applications that can read RSS, or ATOM feeds will also be able to read this website's data feed. RSS and ATOM are each specific forms of XML data.

You can subscribe to the information in a number of different ways. Below is a list of some of the possible ways starting from the simplest, to the more complex and feature complete.

Add to My Yahoo!News: If you have a free Yahoo account, you have a customizable page called My Yahoo!. Although that page comes preconfigured with several news blocks, you can add your own. Each news block is a subscription to some form of XML data feed. This website has been designed to facilitate adding the data feed from this site to your My Yahoo! page. You will notice in the “News” are on the left side of the screen, there is a rectangular icon that says “My Yahoo!” (as pictured at the end of this paragraph). Clicking on that button will add the feed for this site to your My Yahoo! Page. Note that if you are not logged into your My Yahoo! account before you click on that button, you will need to log on first before you can complete adding our feed to your My Yahoo! page.

For those wanting to subscribe to the data feed through some other means, the process you follow to subscribe will depend on the solution you are using. If your web browser is setup to deal with XML feeds, just clicking on the orange XML button on the right will start the process. For those that don't have a XML aware web browser, clicking on the orange XML button will cause your web browser to load the file. You may see raw XML code in your broswer window. The URL in the address bar of your browser will be the URL for the data feed. Select, and Copy that URL. You can then Paste that URL into your News Reader. The URL for this site's XML feed is:

  • Pluck - This is a plug in for MS Internet Explorer. They offer a free version of the Pbuck for download from their website.
  • FireFox Extensions - There are a number of free FireFox extensions that can be used to enable FireFox to read data feed.
